Shanghai/Munich, September 20, 2010 – analytica China, which was held at the Shanghai New International Exhibition Center (SNIEC), drew to a close last Friday, exceeding industry expectations with 15,282 visitors from 66 countries. The number of exhibitors saw an increase of more than 30 percent compared to the last time that the fair was held: Some 468 companies from 22 countries exhibited at the exhibition center in Shanghai from September 15 – 17, and 40 percent of them were international companies. There were also many newcomers this year, including Beijing Titan, GE Healthcare, Dionex, Horiba, Siemens and Tecan. The fair was rounded out by an extensive program of scientific events including the analytica China Conference, the Sino-German Symposium and the Proteomics and Diseases Conference 2010.
"Within a very short period of time, analytica China has developed into a leading platform for analysis, laboratory technology, diagnostics and biology in China and Asia. The more than 30-percent increase in the number of exhibitors is the largest increase since the fair's premiere in 2002", summarizes Norbert Bargmann, Deputy CEO of Messe München. "Continuous growth in the number of exhibitors and visitors since 2002 is a clear sign of the industry's commitment to the Chinese market – now and in the future." That is also underscored by the high level of interest among international companies: 40 percent of all exhibitors were from countries other than China – coming from 21 countries around the world. Germany accounted for the largest contingent of international exhibitors with 37 exhibitors – including a joint stand with 30 companies.
There was also another increase in the number of visitors at the 5th edition of analytica China. 15,282 visitors from 66 countries used the three-day fair to gather information about the industry's latest products, solutions and trends. Among other things, they included the latest methods and techniques for environmental analysis as well as equipment and techniques for quality control in the food and drug industries. The fact that analytica China was held at the same time as ICIF China, the 10th China International Chemical Industry Fair, for the first time ever also contributed to the fair's success and the increase in the number of visitors.
