 1.  Introduction

The Measurment method of type ZKF1 Karl Fischer Moisture Titrator is the volumetric method, it is a special and a most reliable method, it has become a general analytical method in the world.

This instrument is applicable in many different fields, such as pharmacy, orgnatic chemistry, inorgnatic chemistry, petroleum chemistry, chemical fertilizer, agriculture pesticide,dyestuff, foodstuff etc.. Due to the property of the substances be measured is different ,so it is necessary to choose the solvent that can dissolve the substances be measured.

 Characteristics

Accurate measuring  Two-pin platinum electrode for endpoint detection and the titre will be changed from a great quantity to a small quantity automatically.

Airtight pipese  Prevent the moisture,in atmosphere to permeate ,and prevent the noxious gas to escape.

2.  Principe of analysis

In Karl Fischer reaction, moisture in sample reacts with Karl Fischer reagent quantitatively. ZKF1/ZKF1(A) make the analysis based on the forllowing formula:

I2 + SO2  + 3C5H5N + H2O → 2C5H5NHI + C5H5NSO3

C5H5NSO3 + CH3OH → C5H5N • HSO4CH3

Add extracting solvent into the titration vessel,titrate moisture in the solvent with Karl Fischer reagent until solvent equilibrium be reached.Add a known amount of sample,titrate with Karl Fischer reagent having a known factor(mgH2O/ml) until the endpoint be reached.The Karl Fischer reagent factor be determined using water in standard. The moisture content of the sample be calculated then.
